Peter Mariano Cordovano was born in Manhattan, NY, raised in Queens, NY, and resides in New Paltz, NY. Attorney Cordovano received a Bachelor’s degree in the pre-medical sciences from Manhattan College in the Bronx, NY in 1981, and received his Doctorate of Law from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Touro Law Center in Huntington, NY in 1986.
Attorney Cordovano's legal experience has been with the Dutchess County Public Defender's Office in Poughkeepsie, NY; the NYS Attorney General's Office in Poughkeepsie, NY; Finkelstein, Kaplan, Levine, Gittlesohn & Tetenbaum in Newburgh, NY; and Anthony M. Barraco, P.C. in Highland, NY. He established his own Firm, Peter M. Cordovano, P.C., in 1992.
Peter M. Cordovano, Esq. maintains professional memberships in the NYS Bar Association; the NYS Trial Lawyers Association; the Colombian Lawyers of Rockland County; the Ulster County Bar & Dutchess County Bar Associations; and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives. Mr. Cordovano is an Executive Board member of the NYS Injured Workers Bar Association, and is its Hudson Valley’s Representative.

Attorney Cordovano’s other memberships include the Alpha Phi Delta Alumni Association. He is also a former Executive Board member of the Ulster County Bar Association (2 terms), and is a past member of the American Trial Lawyers & American Bar Associations. Mr. Cordovano is active in the Community of New Paltz, as he is a long time sponsor of little league baseball & softball, numerous fundraisers and as a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the Knight’s of Columbus.
Attorney Cordovano was a motorcade driver for Ronald Reagan in New York City during his first term as President. For many years, Mr. Cordovano also served his state, county and town as a Delegate to the NYS Third District’s Judicial Committee; as a Board of Ethics member to the Ulster County Legislature, assisting in a substantial rewrite of that County’s Ethics Law in 2007 and 2008; and as a Board of Ethics member to the Village of New Paltz.
