Foreclosures and short sales
If your mortgage is in default, the bank may try to foreclose on the property, causing you to move out and lose the home to the bank, which sells the property to recoup the money it is owed on the mortgage. This process gives you time to stop the foreclosure and correct any default, and you may additionally have defenses to prevent a wrongful foreclosure.
