The Social Security Administration’s “Ticket to Work Program” is a free and voluntary service derived by the Administration to assist Social Security beneficiaries attempting to return to the labor market. Individuals who receive Social Security benefits because of a disability and are age 18 through 64 probably already qualify for the program. Enrollees may also keep their Medicare and Medicaid benefits.
The objective of this program is to help beneficiaries go to work for a good and substantial wage, with the further intention of leading particular candidates to possible careers. The resulting benefit is that such beneficiaries become financially independent so that the Administration may reduce beneficiary enrollment. This does not necessarily translate into an attrition process. It is also a way of preserving Social Security funds for people into the future who may need them for either disability or regular retirement.
The ticket to work program is a good fit for people who want to improve their earning potential, and are committed to preparing for long-term success in the workplace. Ticket to Work offers beneficiaries with disabilities access to meaningful employment with the assistance of Ticket to Work employment service providers called “employment networks.”
